Greener, et al. v. Shell
United States District Court, Northern District of California
Case No.C-98-2425-CAL
Shell Gas Station Service Monitoring Project
In the past year the above-referenced class action lawsuit regarding access for people with mobility disabilities was settled. The approved Consent Decree provided that covered Shell stations will be accessible to people with mobility disabilities as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. We are writing to request your help to guarantee that covered Shell gas stations comply with the service provisions in the Consent Decree.
In order to ensure that Shell is meeting the requirements of the Decree, DREDF is monitoring the company's progress. Some of the monitoring activities are:
1. Inspections of gas stations by access specialists
2. Review of compliance documents produced by Shell
3. On-going discussions with Shell to ensure full compliance with the Decree, handling of complaints from class members; and
4. Service surveys completed by consumers
A form to report service experiences at Shell stations is available at http://www.dredf.org/shell.html and can be completed and submitted on-line at the same Internet address. A Fact Sheet regarding the settlement and the service guidelines included in the settlement are also available on-line at the same address.
Thank you for your help.
